noun

data security incident

A euphemism for "the company lost your private data".

When the private data you entrusted to a company is no longer private.

Or worse, when the private data a company collected about you is no longer private (see Equifax data breach).

No bank account numbers or Social Security numbers were compromised, other than:

  • "About 140,000 Social Security numbers of our credit card customers"
  • "About 80,000 linked bank account numbers of our secured credit card customers."

I have taken none of the French fries on your plate except... the French fries.

My good dude, we all froze our credit years ago when we first realized the future would be a non-stop breachfest because y’all are bad at security. I’ve got protecting my data covered - I want cash to drown my frequently-breached sorrows. You should have seen this coming. @Iwillleavenow
